No one label adequately describes Noam Chomsky. He is an anarchist and a Laureate Professor known as "the father of modern linguistics." He is a staunch supporter of free speech and expression and an engaged human rights activist and radical scholar, one of the most quoted scholars of contemporary history, with over 150 books in his body of work. His determination to effect real change, make a difference, and construct a better society has not wavered. Chomsky has had a tremendous impact on language evolution discourse, and there are significant parallels between both the disciplines of music and language. Here are some videos of Chomsky with musicians and/or his impact on music as a practice.
